Seems like they are going to raise the terror alert to "orange" from yellow! I am sure that means I should do something--just not sure what.

Maybe it is time I finally dig out that walk in closet that is buried in junk, so that I have a proper place to cower and hide.

I guess it helps solidify public opinion to bomb the crap out of Iraq...

This administration seems to have revisted old FDR's theory, but with a twist:

There is nothing to fear but not enough fear itself!

Re: Terror alert

Plywoody
Its not a good idea for you or your children
assuming you have some. To do nothing and hope
the problems that face America will just some
how go away, if you ignore them long enough, and
convince yourself that they do not exist.
There comes a time when talk is not effective
and action is necessary. If we lived in Neverland
than we could all think of happy endings to our
problems that we face. May be if the U.S. hid in
the closet then that would make America safe for
your children.

Plywoody, I think the danger on that closet is at a level Orange. Better get to it before someone gets hurt by flying boxes of old junk.

Re: Terror alert

They have raised it to high for a couple different reasons as I see it.
1. Is that it is close to the end of some kind of religious holiday and
2. It's getting close to the 11th. of the month.
plus it is getting time for war in Iraq.
Plywoody, you seem to want to go and hide in the closet for some reason and thats wrong as has been stated before.
Get behind your country, even if you believe it's not right, still get behind it so we can have a better world for our children and their children and their children.
I don't want to get started on what I really think on this topic as to some of the comments that you have made about our government and country.
I'll shut up now before I lose my cool.

Re: Terror alert

Bill Clinton hisself just announced yesterday in an interview on Larry King that North Korea needs to be dealt with soon. They are primarily in the business of selling weapons as a means of income. His approach however is diplomacy and for America and the UN to provide them alternative means of making a living.Do you think they're willing to listen?

I'm about to give up on you Plywoody. You've gotten my goat again. I would like to know if any of these many discussions have persuaded you to rethink your position on any of these issues. I was rattled a few minutes thinking that maybe were going in because of the momentum after reading Buchanan, but regained my senses. How about you? What baffles me is the seeming certainty of your opinions. For me it is more an assessment of probability, where being incorrect is possible. Do you acknowledge that it is possible that you could be way out in left field?(no pun intended)

Re: Terror alert

Plywoody-
Glad you are still stirring the pot. Without differing viewpoints being expressed and public policy being debated in open forums (ie. TV/newspaper/internet/Congress/sort of in the united nations) then our administration would actually function as you so eloquently expose in your current conspiracy theories. Thankfully public scrutiny keeps both extremes in line with reality. Unfortunately/fortunately, we have to hear viewpoints that are sometimes inflammatory to our beliefs to obtain this system of checks and balances. That is why I am glad there are citizens like you who are there to make sure we think before we act. Your ideas are protected by US freedoms and as long as you do not withhold support from the troops that actually have to do the battling for that freedom or go join the other side and fight with them....then in my book you actually are making this country better. Just remember that when push comes to shove, the soldiers did not decide to attack, the commanders did, and the troops deserve our support and admiration for doing an incredibly brave thing. Especially considering that some will have the same political views as you and still do their jobs when duty calls.
I still really like disagreeing with your politics though so stick around.
;) :D

Re: Terror alert

Chane my mind? Why no, not yet. I am waiting for you all to change their minds.

And to answer your question, no, I never trust a politician--but I did have more trust in clinton than I have in Bush.
And of course I am a fervent patriotic American! Why else would I say what I say!
I completely agree with Clinton when he says we need to engage North Korea right away in at least talking. To not at least talk to them is simply reckless, as they are far more a threat to the US than Saddam ever thought of being...

Until now, perhaps. We have pretty much announced that only Saddam's dead body is going to appease this country, which pretty much leaves him with the options of winning the war or backing down completely to the US and loosing face with his people. Both not realistic options.

So at this point in time, Saddam is in an impossible no win situation where his demise is pretty much his only option. Who knows what he might do under those circumstances, with nothing more to lose.

It is not a very hopeful situation for this country.

I suspect the rest of the world will learn from North Korea's example in that if you want to avoid being attacked by the US, it is important you get as many nuclear weapons as quick as you possibly can.

Re: Terror alert

BTW I have read the Cheney Rumsfeld Wolfowitz Perle plan for Global domination, written long before 9/11--in fact long before they were even in office.
It is available at:

http://www.newamericancentury.org/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf?

It is something like 122 pages long in .pdf format so don't download it unless you want to spend some time reading it.

Many of you will just think it is wonderful, no doubt, and that global domination is what we should be about. I don't

I think this thing is just downright scary, and it accurately predicts this attack on Saddam as just the starting point.

Diplomacy does not seem to be high on their agenda.

Maybe it would be a good idea if the
U.S.A. gave all the country's with lofty ideas
of domination & genocide their own nuclear
arsenal, so as not to cause an unjustified
imbalance in the world.

Re: Terror alert

Plywood-
That is an extremely biased and particularly "simplistic" interpretation of the document you listed. I am trying to make this nonaggressive personally so my description above leaves out many things that could be summized about your reading comprehension abilities based on your comment above.
I imagine you will get a few fish with that lure though... so I will not bite....just nibble on the idea. ;)
Watch out plywoody or spinner will have to get his debate foul flag out for dishonesty!! ;)

Re: Terror alert

Plywoody I really think you should go into that closet and stay there till this is all over. It seems to me you are not ready to face what has to be done to preserve and protect our way of life so it might be better for you to go hide so you don't have to watch what is going to happen next. As to Korea theirs is coming soon and perhaps sooner than anyone thinks. I think what is going on is we are gonna take care of things one at a time in order even though we could handle more than one job at a time. I think this is a good thing because I think a lot more lives will be lost when we go to Korea and it will take up more time and energy to do what will be needed. What I think Bush is doing is taking care of potential problems while he works on solving the bigger one that way when it comes to it we don't have to worry about which snake is sneaking up behind us while we are killing the bigger more dangerous snake.

North Korea and Iraq are two diiferent issues.

Korea has nukes, we know that. Do they want to use them? I doubt it. They're posturing. They want something. They know fully well that if they launch one, their ENTIRE country will be turned into a glowing parking lot inside of one half hour.

We also have a pretty good idea of what Iraq has. Do they have nukes, probably not. We know that they were/are trying. Did they succeed-??? We do know that Saddam has no regard for anyone except himself.

The more dangerous person in a standoff is the one that you DO NOT know what he is packing.

Saddams ties to Al Qieda are documented.

Many of you may not know that Hitlers signature DID NOT appear on one document relating to the Holocaust. He was nuts, but he was careful.

What action in Iraq will show the world is that the US will develop a plan of action and follow through. That is something that has been lacking since WWII.

Diplomacy? Did I hear that word?
If we get anymore diplomatic, we might as well ask the guy to come to dinner.
We have talked enough and all he is doing is stalling for time.
He is not going to surrender, and he sure don't give a rat's behind about anyone, he showed that when he gassed his own people, so why not just do it and get it over with so we can move on.
So much time and money being wasted shipping our people over there and the inspectors.
Besides, he is only going to let them see what he wants them to see, so what's the point.
Bring the inspectors out and kick some Sadam A$$.
