I believe that I'm getting confused with the componets of my OMC 351W 235 hp. Is the riser the part that "rises" from the bell housing with the big rubber hose on each end or is the the part that directly connects to the top of the exhaust manifold? Elementary question, I know, but one I need to clarify. Can't find a pic in my manual.
Thanks!

the riser typically bolts on to the exhaust manifold.

riser typicaly refers to a block between manifold and elbow that raises elbow to an acceptable height above the static water line. they come in varied lengths to suit indvidual needs. some manufacturers call the elbow the riser to help keep everyone confused.

Thanks for the response, guys. You are right, riverrat. One supplier calls it one thing, another calls it the opposite. So if I'm correct, the riser comes off the exhaust manifold, has a large rubber hose that connects it to the elbow via another hose and then out the back of the boat...??? Gotta get the basics right...
Thanks,
Dan
