I heard a debate yesterday re litigation and health care costs, and one of them were claiming, like you, JB, that litigation and high insurance rates were the cause of high health care costs... but were unable to come up with any specifics to defend that position.<br /><br />The other one said the real reason for rising insurance rates were bad investments over the last few years by insurance companies, and the high rates were an attempt to recoup those losses.<br /><br />I'd like to find out what the real truth is, before we start implementing solutions.<br /><br />And insulating providers from malpractice claims is a dangerous way to guarantee quality in health care, IMO.

Hi, PW2.<br /><br />My GP Doc pays $120,000 a year for MP insurance. She doesn't do anything in the high risk category.<br />She shares a family practice with her Dad in a small town in NW Texas.<br /><br />Providers needn't be insulated from valid malpractice litigation to be held accountable for quality health care. They do need to be protected from predatory frivolous lawsuits and exhorbitant awards sought by the likes of John Edwards.<br /><br />It is not just Docs that are victimized by Robin Hood lawyers and lottery prize juries. It is an extortion game. . . settle or get raped in court. Even when you win in court, it costs thousands of bux and smears your reputation.<br /><br />It is a disgrace what the John Edwards type lawyers do to our country.

Here is the problem with her. She married into money, then into politics after the first husband conviently died in a plane crash. In fact he died the year after she met John Kerry. Four more years later they were married. She is from Africa, possible extremist ties there. She funds environmental orgs, which are tools for socialist/communist/terrorists. She even sits on the board of some of these organizations that give money directly to other organizations which have ties to terrorists.<br /><br />Now, tell me she won't have some power throught the back door while being the first lady. Why doesn't that matter?

I have a couple extreme right-wing friends that send me this stuff all the time. JB did you ever try to find out how many hundreds of millions of dollars the A.M.A.spends yearly lobbying in congress?This mostly in efforts to stop socialized medicine and trying to keep medication outrageously expensive?<br />Maybe just maybe,a malpractice lawsuit is just about our only defense against this gargantuan medical industry monster that is trying to suck our wallets dry.Our politicians left and right certainly are not going to stand up and fight them.It would be the end of their career.
