Re: Temperature sensor

You can use a temp sentive grease pencle on the block for the temp desired and watch it for change in color if the sensor is not shorting to grd. as it should Usally 145Deg. F. on 2 stroke not sure on 4 stroke. Or best when in doubt change it out. Putting a jumper from the sender wire to grd. should set the alarm off with the motor running, to test the rest of the system.

Re: Temperature sensor

In my experience it would be the engine overheating, not a bad sensor?

Re: Temperature sensor

Thanks for the replies. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond.I dont think the problem is the temp sensor.I can only get 4200 RPM at full throttle and 10 mph.I used to run 5600 rpm and approx. 20-23 mph.I have gone through the fuel system from inside the tank all the way to the injectors and had the injectors tested. My fuel pressure reads 42psi.The problem only accors under a load.I can peg out rpms when i push the fast idle button and rev it up.New plugs and filters.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason

Re: Low rpm and speed

Reving an engine that has no load on it (as you did by reving it in neutral) proves nothing. That engine will seem to run fine if only half its cylinders are firing. Stop doing that unless you want internal bits and pieces sticking out the side of the block. Did you check the plugs. If so what did they look like? Does the engine run smooth at speeds up to the point where it begins to bog down. Old fuel? Water in the fuel? plugged fuel filters? Fuel pressure may be fine at idle, but what happens to it when it is under load and demand goes up?
