Temperature Sender?

I was draining the water from my engine tonight and found this on the starter side of my 350. The drain plug was broke so I removed the whole thing but what the heck is that sender for? My temp sender is by the thermostat. I housing.

That’s called a Knock sensor…

Would you like help finding the part number for the drain plug?

Engine serial number helps some but not totally needed for this item… again if needed or desired.

O. Thats interesting. Would a knock sensor be useful on a engine with a carb? I always thought knock sensors were for EFI.

This is a better option instead of the Y fitting that gets clogged up just add the bushing for the blue plug in the straight section not the 90. Easier to insert a wire/rod to insure block draining, knock sensor in the 90 end

Go to NAPA. Ask the old guy behind the counter. They probably have both T's and Y's in stock

Blue plug is item number 50 in the link of post number 4 above next to fitting numbers 48 and Knock sensor 47...O-ring (51) comes with a new plug.

179 dollars for a knock sensor! I would never go cheap for important parts like brakes or suspension parts but there aint no way in heck I am going to pay 179 for something that wont kill my engine if it should **** on me. And mercury wants 95 for a brass fitting! NOT! I am sure a trip to the plumbing section at my local hardware store will get me something a hell of a lot cheaper and better than what merk has to offer.
