Has anyone put a temperature sensor and gauge on their 1996 Force 75hp motor?

I have put one on my 1995 Sport Jet 90 which is basically the same block. I used a 1/8" temp sender that was the correct resistance for the gauge in my boat. I checked it by hooking up the sender and ground wires to the sender and putting it in a coke can with boiling water (using a propane torch) and seeing that it measured ~212 degrees. I bought the sender on Amazon.
I installed it in the plug at the top of the block. I had a "pee" tube at the time and put the sensor in a TEE. Since I have just screwed it into the hole and forgot about the Pee tube.
I kept the high temp thermo switch on the head and the buzzer it operates.

Thank you for your concise answer. I will look for a 1/8" hole somewhere on the block. I don't think my engine "pees".

You will find the plug filling the tap just in front of the head on top of the block. IF as I think it is basically the same as the three cylinder 90 hp engine.

Thank you for helping me find the right plug. My block is probably the same as yours. Would you happen to have a pic of your completed installation?

Here is a picture with the sensor installed, but it is of the whole engine compartment and perhaps you can expand it to see where it screws in. It is the brass thingy behind the flywheel.00r0r_1b5dL3znlac_1200x900.jpg

Thanks for the pic. When I looked at my engine I saw a nylon plug where you put your sensor. I tried to remove it but it didn't budge. Do you actually have a temperature gauge connected? I also saw an elbow on the thermostat housing connected to a hose, connected to a clogged "pee" hole. I cleared it and it works! Would like your opinion on whether a temp gauge is necessary.
Thanks

I have a sensor on my 90 ho Sport Jet in my Hobie Jet fisherman's console. I do not have a Pee Port as you can't see and there is not much pressure to spray it up so that you can see it.
I pay attention to it since at idle the Sport Jet has a tendency to run hotter as the cooling water is tapped off the jet nozzle and if the idle is low it does not provide enough flow.
If you need it on on outboard with the pump impeller in the foot I don't know. The overheat buzzer should be adequate.

Thanks for answering so quickly. I will monitor the pee flow and decide on a temperature gauge in the future. Do you know how to test that buzzer? I should make sure it works.

You can take the (brown I think, maybe brown and blue) wire loose from the switch and ground it and the buzzer should sound. Often the buzzer either doesn't work or is not loud enough to hear over the motor and wind so some replace it with a LOUD buzzer.
It should be located under the dash or sometimes in the throttle assy.

Like your idea for a loud buzzer. While Googling for one I found a "Waterproof 12 Volt Super Loud Sound 125db Tonal Siren Alarm Emergency Marine" on Ebay for $12.95 plus shipping. It also has a large red light that turns on.
Thanks for your help.
