Temp Sensor

Will a 1986 force 85 hp run without the temp sensor connected? Is it just a warning horn for when engine runs to hot? I broke the screw of that comes out of sensor wo wire is not connected.

Yes, it just sounds a warning buzzer/horn.<br /><br />It does not feed any info to a computer, as there is no computer.
