I have a fuel leak coming from the lower unit and the carb. this engine does run, I dont know much about this engine but I do know that it was a Sears motor built by Eska, and the ser# is 217-58540 wich was 1970 model, I dont know why this would be leaking out of the lower unit. does anyone have some insight on these motors, thanks for any help!!!! Too much fuel entering the engine will run out the exhaust. Don't know if this applies to your particular model, but if it has a fuel pump bladder in the carburetor, it may be ruptured. That would explain both problems you mentioned. The bladder is in the carburetor mounting flange. Remove the carburetor and you will see it. Usually orange.

thanks for the info. I will have to check out the bladder to see if it is good or not. Is this motor water cooled, do you know

That model doesn't appear to have a fuel pump element;

I think the fuel line fitting has a check valve in it with a reputation for stickin'. I'd get in there and clean the bejesus out of the carb. The engine. bottom end is cooled by water forced into the tube behind the prop when the motor moves forward thru the water. You may have a viton tipped needle in that carb, too, so be careful what kit you get if you try to replace it, because most engine repair places will sell you an aluminum needle, which will only make you tear out your hair, gnash your teeth, and wail.

I found out that the fuel bladder is bad, so I ordered an other one. but I can not find a viton needle valve for this motor, I think mine is fine so I will try to work with it for now. I will keep you posted.

It may be that you have a later carburetor than the original. The bladder is a much easier fix than the viton tipped needle. I bet you're in for some good luck.

I got the fuel bladder, put it in and it runs great. I dont know the fuel oil ratio. I ran the motor for about 15 minutes. no fuel leaks. Just have to but in on and go. thanks for the help.
