My family is headed to higher ground in Orlando.
My sister is handicapped and doesn’t get around very easily so they will play it safer. Most of my friends have boarded up and are going to ride it out. They at least are going into town and getting off the islands. They would be crazy not to.
All the Best to all that will be in the line of fire.
Stay Safe if you can

My friends with the place in Anna Maria said they had 4 feet of water in their house with Helene (6 foot storm surge). Now with Milton they are predicting a 10-15 foot storm surge. Yikes!

My wife and I are settled into our motel. My wife has already set up house. :sneaky:

The boy decided to ride it out at his girlfriends house. He'd been concerned about a pine tree in the backyard, but discovered a chainsaw in the garage and cut it down himself. I taught him that stuff.

I don't believe in man made climate change myself. Hurricanes have been around for millennia, just that the climate is always changing.
I agree but will disagree. Man made or not we don't need to be polut8ng like we are.

Turns out my bother was in Orlando on vacation. They are on a flight home now.

Time is running out to get out, most people have gone who are going to go and the roads have cleared. Pic is Clearwater area. So now roads are good and empty. I did same thing in Nags Head for a storm decades ago. I waited till next day to leave. The roads the day before were paralyzed, packed and slow, stayed another night and left in the AM, clear driving all the way home. When I left parking lot, storm winds were heavy and ocean frothy foam was
on the roads.

I have family in Naples FL . . . they are staying in place. They say they are far enough inland RE: storm surge.

Just imagine, stand outside next to home or building and mark on the wall the 15 foot line in your mind...that is where the water surge might go. And the water is being forced inland with strong winds. And debris floating is going to be slamming into things. That has tremendous force, moving water.

Did you all see the metal shipping container wrap itself around a pole during Helene, it crumpled like it was nothing.
