It only makes the noise when the boat is running. It sounds kind of like a machine gun. It's taking a little longer to kick in now though. It kicks in after running almost a mile at 3000 rpms or higher. Do I need the valves adjusted? How much will that cost? Will it hurt anything if I continue to run it. I don't experience any performance or power loss.... It's mainly just annoying and I'm scared to run it like that for too long. Once I bring the RPMs down it stops. It has about 15 hours on a remanufatured engine. Will it work itself out?

I dont know if your oil pressure is still fluctuating but if it is I would have the pump checked. If its not it could be a sticking lifter. There is a great product on the market called sea foam.Great for these problems.Being that it only has 15 hours though it could be a bad lifter in which case sea foam will not work.I wish I could hear it.Good Luck, wheels
