As some of you may know, the group responsible for the 911 memorial is being lead by radicals who will turn it into a "blame America" memorial.

I urge all of you to take a look at the web site put together by Debra Burlingame, sister of one of the pilots hijacked on 911. She is trying to put a stop to their plans and make the memorial about 911.

http://takebackthememorial.org/

If you agree that the 911 Memorial should be about the people of 911 please take a moment to sign the petition:

http://takebackthememorial.org/petition/

Some 9/11 kin want freedom museum canceled
By Associated Press
Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - Updated: 08:46 AM EST

NEW YORK - Family members of those killed at the World Trade Center are balking at plans to add a museum of freedom at ground zero, arguing it would allow politics to infect a place revered as sacred.

Relatives representing 14 family groups rallied at the site Monday to condemn plans for the International Freedom Center, which officials said would place the 2001 terror attacks in a historical context.

The center would be part of a cultural complex set to open in 2009 at the northeast end of the rebuilt trade center site. It would host discussions on historical and current events, exhibits on global freedom movements and a service program encouraging activities that could range from joining the Peace Corps to enlisting in the U.S. military.

According to the International Freedom Center's Web site, the museum will "deal with the international impact of September 11," as well as such issues as segregation in America and the Holocaust.

"It doesn't belong at a memorial," said Charles Wolf, whose wife, Katherine, died in the World Trade Center collapse. "You wouldn't put a debate about Nazism and authoritarianism at Dachau."

Center President Richard J. Tofel said that while the causes of the Sept. 11 attacks would not be up for debate, the center would not bar criticism of the United States and its actions.

"Part of the way we celebrate freedom is to acknowledge that even the greatest societies in the world and those that have made the greatest contribution to freedom are not perfect," he said.

The center's use of advisers that include some critics of U.S. policy has prompted criticism from conservative commentators in recent weeks.

It never fails to amaze me how people will take a tradgedy and use it to further their own goals.

911 should never be remembered for any groups political goals or personal statements. It was a horrific act that affected the entire country. We need to remember it as such.

God bless all those who passed, be they an innocent just trying to go to work or those heroes who gave all trying to save them.

Quote from RichP1269
"It was a horrific act that affected the entire country"

What happened on 911 affected the entire world, not just the US. Lets hope nothing like that ever happens again.

9/11? What's that?

One would think that the media has completely (or, at least they want us to) forgot/forgotten that monumental historical event.

In my book, the best way to memorialize those victims and the USA is to build a bigger set of towers on the same site.

At the same time we should go back and revise the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl harbor to 'Understand' why the Japanese had to attack us..

This is pure BS and we should not forget, ever, the anger and horror of that day. Whatever the historical context, it was pure, premeditated mass murder. Any attempt to shine a different light is horribly offensive.

This is an embarrassment. No wonder they attacked us.

That is EXACTLY what the media "elites" want.

We can view the so called "horrors" of GITMO adnausiem, yet, 9/11 footage is off limits.

Why?

I'll tell you why. It's called "an agenda".
