Is it possible to take a compression test with the engine on its side, on the ground?
Can it harm the engine?

Thank you Dew

Naw, very simple just wanted to know. I was by myself and didn't want to drop my nut$ tryin' to do it by myself. Figured I'd bang it out right there with no waiting.

I'll just wait abit and check it.

Thanks again,

Seems fine. You are just measuring air leakage and I don't think the air cares which direction it's leaking out in.

Well got it checked and Im amazed.

About 160 PSI is both cylinders. Fired right up too. I didn't think they went that high in PSI. And ignition seems all redone and new coils power pack ect. 1976 Evinrude 55HP for $250, sometimes you get a break huh? Still not outta the woods yet with a full check of the motor but stuff seems good.

Thank you for your advise and info. :)
