Tahoe Swing Tongue set up

I have never used my swing tongue feature on my trailer as the set up seems to have been botched by the previous owner.
There was never a removable pin just a big bolt through the hinge.

I need to get it working as we are moving soon and have less room for the full length.

I now have a replacement removable pin and would like to see some pics of a 'original' set up so that I can overhaul the hinge set-up and get it working properly.
I briefly looked at one other Tahoe trailer here and the swivel part swings to Starboard whereas mine seems to be ready to go the other way.
Looks like the hinge should have the zerk but on mine it's all wrong.

Really would appreciate some decent pics and advice.

Re: Tahoe Swing Tongue set up

Its quite simple. when looking at the tongue from the hitch side, remove the bolt on the right. The larger pin simply slides through and is secured by a small retaining pin through a hole at the bottom of the larger pin. Mine has a red handle on the top to make it easier to pull out. The small retaining pin is held to it by a short section of steel wire. I don't recall seeing a greasable zerk on the other side, but it would kind of make sense.

That's Great Guys, Thanks for the pics dursetto.
Looks like my set up is a mess up.

For starters the removable hinge with zerk is on the wrong side.
I wonder if I can just insert the pin in the other side, as long as the wholes are the correct size then I imagine that it wont be a problem.

Do you think the holes and clearances are symmetrical?

I'll try and pull it apart tomorrow.

Mine swings the other way from the factory. It doesnt matter which way it swings just grease it, pin it, and pull it :)

Thanks spdracr, that's helpful and good news.

I'm trying to get the bolts out but they are jammed solid at the moment.
Soaking in WD40 as we speak!

Re: Tahoe Swing Tongue set up

Ok sorry it took so long...glad to see someone else also took pics for you. So here is my setup...which is opposite of dursetto's boat (since mine is a Q7) The thing I do NOT like about the swinging hitch is that anyone can come by and take that pin...then you are screwed for trailering your boat home unless you have a padlock to put through the top holes and the bottom holes for that matter for extra protection during trailering. In thinking about that she I have to leave my trailer at a campsite or boat dock...I take that
pin and bend the trailer tongue to let people know that there is no way you are tang my trailer (unless they are bright enough to realize the lock trick) I also have a lock pin at the hitch for theft.

The thing you are missing is not only the pin but the boat that has a zerk fitting on top like in my picture...this of course allows lubrication of the swing pin. You can get these items easily from the dealer and I would imagine it would not be a fortune...maybe about $100 for both.

Thanks guys for your great pictures and advice.
Tongue is now sorted and swings.

Does that hydraulic pipe pull real tight on your trailers with the tongue swung wide?
Really pulls tight on mine.

Mine has a little slack in it at the swing section, but not a lot. You may look to see if you can free up some slack under the tongue or in the trailer to help.

Yeah mine is fairly tight when fully swung. I have sprayed it with Aerospace 303 to keep her sliding as best as possible. Making sure to keep it clean for minimal abrasion.
