Looking at trading Tracker for the Q5 or 7. A couple of questions.

Where do you mount a fish finder? I want the Lawrance color/gps and I did not see a obvious place to mount one.

Also, BPS said that in the 2012 model year all the engines are going to be Ca. compliant which will really add to the cost. Anyone else hear that.

Over all I like the looks of the boat.

I have the 2010 Q5 and there is not a place to mount a fish finder that is convenient. I do not fish, but wanted to see depth and temp. I had to put a small circular one on the dash. It just shows the water temp and depth.

I have not heard about the upgrade on the engine, if that is true get one before the 2012 models are the only ones out there.

I will get an .11 I think.

I have to have the finder. i saw a pic today of a guy who had a Garmin mounted. It did cover some of the gauges, guess that is what i will have to do.

Hey jackpine, I`ll post a pic wed or thurs when I pick mine up from storage for a day at the lake. I have a 5 series hummingbird color GPS, and love it! Especially on the lakes I`m not familiar with. I haven`t got lost yet but sure would have without it.

No one likes to pay extra for upgrades that are beyond the manufacture control. EPA re. boats, is dictating upgrades in emmision controls not much different than cars, maybe even moreso since emmisions from a boat go into the water.. I'm pretty sure if you would check , any and all boat manufactuers have a deadline to be in compliance..

I mounted my fish/depth finder using the cup holder by the steering wheel. I have the Lowrance x4 so its not that big but it gives me depth and all the essentials.I wish I had mounted it up front by the trolling motor , I can adjust the size of the depth reading tolarge and I could esily see it from the drivers seat.

i used a ram mount that sticks up about 6in. in front of the windshield to the side is enough space for the base of the mount. it sticks up at just the right height to see it over the windshield and it will fold down when i put my cover on it. i like to fish so i can turn the finder around so that i can see it while im up front fishing.

What I don't like about the other side of the windshield is I will loose access to the controls. I am always playing around with them.

I have a 2010 Q5 S/F and I mounted my humminbird on a RAM mount just in front of the throttle handle (make sure you move the throttle all the way before you mount the bracket) so it is kind of just above the cup holder but doesn't effect it the usability and with the RAM mount you can swivel it in all directions and I just use a crown royal purple bag as a cover and it works great for me. And it is right at the controls of the driver.
