Tahoe 1950 Deckboat Installed Humminbird under windshield, not a good idea..

Apparently this model Tends to overheat and being under the windshield doesnt help. Anyone with this boat do the same and have workarounds such as sun shade or fan to mitigate the issue.
I hate to move it since have a hole for the power cable there now.

Thanks

Huh? All of mine were/are under the windshield, on top of the dash. From my very first Eagle in my Bayliner, to the Eagle that was in my FourWinns, to the Garmin in my current boat.

Problem with using a fan is that it's going to use ambient air so you're not likely to get cool air going across the FF. A foil shade *might* help but at what cost as it will certainly reflect that sunlight back to the windshield?

My phone will overheat if I put it on the dash under the windshield. Solution is to put it in the shade ... I think if you shielded that part of the windshield so the Finder is in the shade, that should take care of the issue. If not, than air passing over it continually will help with the heat build-up under the windshield. I would try the shade first and go from there.

Guessing its the power supply or LCD display given that most electronic components are rated to 140F.

Lots of PS and most LCD displays are only rated to 122F.
A LED display gets you up to 140F with the rest of the components

You need to move the unit to the shade to eliminate the source of radiant heat, ie sun and/or use a small fan to blow air across the surface of the unit.

Air cooling would only be an option (effective) up to ~95-100F ambient air temp. Depends on the venting of the case
