Tahoe 195 I/O Started itself without keys in ignition

Has anyone heard of this happening. Boat had been on the lake all day. Came home cleaned it put it away approx 5 hours later it started itself and was ideling inthe garage. I had been in and out of garage all afternoon and it was not running before. This boat is only 3 years old and this is the 2nd thime this has happened.

can't help with your problem but just be careful. How long did the motor run with no coolant? I'd have this looked at by the dealer if they will still stand by the boat they sold you. Running without coolant can cause issues beyond the original self starting problem. You definately want to get things looked at before you take it out again.

I hope you don`t have a ghost in the garage who used to love boating! LOL LOL Sorry, just had to. Definite intermittent short in the ignition system. I would disconnect the battery until I could have a new ignition switch installed.

Depending on year of boat , had problems with moister build up where the main harness plugs to motor adapter plug. If you have an adapter plug between the harness and engine I would take apart and inspect..The adapter was needed because of an engine plug modification from Merc. The position of the adapter below the deck vents from rain or even power washing would collect water around the rubber rim and soon seep in.

There was a recall on this with tracker marine you need to contact them. Clamp was left off causing water to get in harrness.
