tachometer hook up

Hi all We are pretty new to boating so sorry if this is a stupid question.

we bought an old calglass 15' runabout and we just got a 1971 mercury 50hp 500 series model # 3015485

me and my son want to insall a tachometer in the boat our control box has a conector for one on the front of the box but we need to find the part number for the cable we need and a little how to install.

we have been to a couple of dealers out here and as soon as we tell them that we dont have a new engine they dont seem to want to help us out.

so if anyone could help us out that would be great. Thank-you in advance.

Check the Iboat store here. I know they have them as I was looking for them about a month ago before I broke my motor. If I had the link I would pass it but I dont have it. Look for tachometers and if I recal right, it will be in the accesories for the tach. Good luck.

Thank-you for the info But the hook up like they say you need a alternator and my moter dosent have one so how would it hook up. or am i wrong.
