Tach wiring 1983 Johnson 150

I am trying to rewire the orig tach from this Wellcraft V20 with Johnson 150 ob. It has only the two screw terminals "GND" is obviously ground, and "S" for input I suppose. There are no loose wires under the dash, so i ran a new one from the "S" terminal to the motor. Now, where do I connect it?? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks, hooty. Can you describe what the rectifier looks like? There are several black square gizmos in there... not so many have terminals on them, they seem to be sealed or run to plugs. Thanks, scottnpat.
