tach question ??????

what does the gray wire on the tach hook up to on motor (90 horse force ) and how can i check to see if it is sending a pulse, or if my tach is bad..

There should be a terminal on the terminal block mounted on the powerhead labeled "tach". Look for an unconnected wire of the same color under the instrument panel. In my boat, it's purple.

Under the dash, feel the wiring harness for a folded back wire that is taped over.

It gets connected to the stator at the rectifier. Many times that is why a bad rectifier causes your tach to work erratically or not at all.
