J90tlcem 1989 90 Johnson.....coming across the lake today the tach quit working,voltage on gauge still read 14...get home put it on hose and battery reads 12.59,start motor up and goes to 13.45 at idle(850) RPM....I had this happen a few times last year,but within 5 min.s the tach would start working again....when you turn the key on the tach remains at 0,and when you start the motor it does not move....is there anyway to test the grey wire for a signal..not sure where to start...wiring on motor end looks good,under the dash is a real pain to get too....
