H'lo, mates,
Been like this for at least 5 years. 1990 Mercury 135 - dead tach until tilt is operated, jumps right to attention w/ proper RPM, then quits again within 10 seconds. Can duplicate all day long. Tilt switch at the engine is balky at the beginning of season, esp down. Have to keep stabbing it until it works, then works OK for the season. Never tried tilting/trimming at the engine to see whether it does the same with the tach. Is there correlation? Connections seem clean between the control console tilt switch and the tach. Your thoughts are welcome, especially if you know something and not just blowing smoke! :<) TKS!
