My tac quit working, can I measure an impulse from the engine to the tac and tell if the problem is in the tac or in the engine somewhere? Can this be done at the tac itself, what wire and what kind of reading should I get?

Re: Tac question ???

you can take it off the flux capacitor.
you can get a direct reading from the infold bracket bearing assy or you can check the stargate capacitor.
all depends on the full model number of the machine and the gauge its sending signal to.
if that doesnt work, contact SETI.

Re: Tac question ???

yamaha has imported engines, if thats what you have, to the US since 1984. from the 2 hp to the F350.
without knowing what you have we simply cant tell you what where or how the tach signal is generated nor how to test it.
not knowing who manufactured the tach leaves us more blind.
I was trying to use some maybe sarchastic humour to elicit the information.
no offense ment but if ya ask I may have fun with ya.
