Re: T.O. digs his own grave

Well said AK Chappy... I feel that "professional" atheletes should all make $50,000 annual and should re-compete annually for their jobs, that goes for the coaching staff too.

The absolute self-appointed grandeur these humans lift themselves up to is truly awe-inspiring to me, but not the good kind of awe, the gut-wrenching want to puke kind. I guess it can be written as: For Love of Money, but I think we already know the answer.

I would prefer that the Deputy down the street get a pay raise than some multi-million per year contract baseball player go on strike for yet another pay increase.... [vomit].

Re: T.O. digs his own grave

"anyone" can go out and earn $50K a year doing something. very, very few can go out and do what pro athletes do. complain all you want, but it's a simple supply and demand situation. they earn their money because we can't do what they do, and we are willing to pay the money to go see it. maybe you are not one of those people, but there are plenty of us that do.

from a life long philly fan, it sickens me how the eagles played this. what really changed from saturday to monday? he apologized, so get over it. this is pro sports, not college. i pay money to see the best team on the field. the eagles are much better with owens, and i want to see him in green. i respect the team and the point they were trying to make, but get over it. stop blowing it out of porportion. blame it us liberals in the media. but whatever you do, field the best team you can and win for me and the rest of the fans that pay the big bucks. owens is the best wr in the league. we want him.

Mattttt25 point on earnings is right on; plus, if the owners only had to $50,000 they would be rolling in the $$$. And they make plenty as it is.

Having played and coached, basketball and track) if you have a cancer in the locker room it doesn't matter the talent 'it will effect the whole team'.

I have often marveled at what T.O. does on the field, he is just that much better at running routes and getting open: brings to mind Jerry Rice.

I think we have all worked with someone we couldn't stand; but, we did the job and went home. Didn't associate or care what the other did - showed up did the job and went our ways. If T.O. had done the same he would still be playing and they may have redone his contract. Instead of proving he had shed the garbage he just proved he is garbage -- great talent, but garbage!

Re: T.O. digs his own grave

It's not about what changed from Saturday to Monday. It's about what happened ever since the Eagles lost the Superbowl. As a fan, I and the majority of people could never root for a guy like that. Matttt25, your point of view is interesting, but I think the Eagles were acting in the best interest of the team, the fans and also the sport. Your opinion, as a fan, is a minority opinion. "We want him" You mean you, right? Owens is definitely one of the most talented WRs in the game, but most people do not want him. Most fans would rather pay big bucks and not see Owens out there, even if it means Philly not being as good. Also, I think the Eagles proved that it's NOT solely about "supply and demand". Owens did not apologize. Technically, yes he did, but were those his words? Doubtful. Did he mean what he said? No friggin' way. The apology meant nothing.

"Fielding the best team". I think Daniel Syder (Redskins owner) proved many years in a row, that you can buy a team, load it with a bunch of big name, talented stars and still not be able to "field the best team" you could've. The Redskins were oozing with talent, but they didn't play as a team. Chemistry is extremely important in a game like football. Talent does not equal the best team. Patriots are good example of that also.

Owens will get signed somewhere because he's too talented for someone not to give him a try. Owens won't be able to be too choosy like he was when he almost went to the Ravens.

The punishment Owen is getting right now might be a little too severe, legally speaking, but the butthead got what he deserved.

Why do you think the 49rs got rid of him? We watched many a game when he made a half-hearted attempt at a catch only to miss it just because he wanted to be traded. He played like C*** in S.F. and then all of a sudden makes almost every catch and play for the Eagles.

Good riddence if you ask me. Can't believe he's paid that much and after a year throws a tantrum because he wants to renegotiate for more money.

Seems like he's full of himself if you ask me.

PierBridge, the 90% was a number I picked out of a hat. It was meant to represent the fact that a majority of them are.

BTW, Nice Avatar.

AK Chappy

Gotta love that quarterback McNabb! He was "All-Pro" last night. Why he pulled defeat right out of the jaws of victory.

Maybe TO was on to something there???

Good call that would be a good fit I think, they are desperate for some offense, heck they took that fool Ricky Williams back.
