Sylvan V 178 l 1996 technical specification

Hi there,

I just bought a Sylvan V178 l boat. I don't know much about it. I bought it from the local market and the boat doesn't have any technical specifications. I need to know the length / width / height / weight and the maximum recommended power engine. If somebody has a certificate of conformity please contact me. Thank you

The capacity plate should provide max HP. No plate?

You can measure the boat length, width and height.

No idea about height, but that'd also depend on the trailer height and how its loaded.

A 1996 Sylvan will have a HIN, boat equal to a car VIN, and its stamped in the hull and should be on the title.

Thank you for your answer. it has two plates ...one with HIN and one with number of persons / maximum loaded / model of boat V178l...but nowhere appears the max power engine. Thank you again

The boat is without engine ...that is the reason I need to know about it

Can you post a pic of the plate with the max loading info, etc.? The HP is usually there but is sometimes worn and hard to read. Maybe we can photo enhance it and get the rating.

No joy there! Hmmm... is there another plate inside somewhere? Like next to the throttle? Or maybe covered by a panel or something?

Is that boat an inboard/outboard?
If so they often don't show the horsepower rating.
If you have pictures of the motor mount placement someone can probably figure out if it was the 3.0 liter 4 cylinder or the 4.3 liter V6.
Is the stern drive still on it?

NADA boats is showing it as an I/O with a max HP of 135.
