I have a 1984 mercury 75hp, I think the switchbox is bad. Is there anyway of bench testing that so i dont have to drag the boat to a shop?

Here is how to bench test switchbox with ohm meter butit does not test the internal capacitor or SCR's

While it certainly is possible that you have a problem with your switchbox, make NO ASSUMPTION when diagnosing your ignition system as there is NO RETURN on electrical parts.

As Faztbullet pointed out, Ohms test may not reveal all.

DVA testing stator, triggers, switchbox, and coils is THE most reliable method to ensure that you do not end up replacing $$$ parts needlessly.
