Re: switch panel wiring

First, consider whether you need to put certain items that already have their own built-in on/off switch (e.g., stereo, VHF, fishfinder) on a switchpanel. These devices are better off fed either directly from a breaker panel / fusepanel or from a bus/stud setup with inline fuses. In short, you may be able to reduce the number of switches you need in a switchpanel from 6 to more like 3 or 4.

Second, take a quick peek at this current thread:
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=445998

That's a basic hookup for a very basic switchpanel, with the switches being fed from a bus/stud using inline fuseholders. Do you have a specific switch panel in mind? Your selection may have other doodads like molded-in fuseholders/breakers, indicator lights, a negative bus, etc. that make it a little more complex (or, in actuality, easier).

Re: switch panel wiring

Ezacdc sells one designed to hook up to an existing panel. It's a Blue sea systems panel all wired up with the leads to connect to switches, etc.

I looked at EZACDC, but ended up going with New Wire... SWITCH PANELS

These are fully wired too, but less $$ than ezacdc's ($149 vs. $104 for wired 5 switch with plug). Also you can choose eash switch for your load instead of getting three accessory switches, and the connectors are generic vice only fitting other EZACDC products.

I attached some picks they sent me before I pulled the trigger on thier panel (still need to take picks of mine to post). notice real heat shrink connectors on the wiring. The pre-wired panel hooks up easily through a standard terminal block (can see in the back of the installation pic). Also, the actual product was even better than the pic, as it had heat shrinked labels on each switch leg... really cool.
