ok heres the deal
i have an about 74 fairline 302 175hp with an omc stringer drive
i broke the upper gearcase(hit something and one mount ear snapped right off and stripped the ball gears)
ok so
i bought a used stringer off a guy
he said it was from a 305 chevy
i figured 305 -302 no big deal
so i just wapped out the upper gearcase gearing and all and used my electric shift lower end
now when i hit the water im haveing a real hard ime getting it out of the water
should i swap my upper gears into the new case ?
or use the lower end that came with the new o/d?
or are they the same and im wasteing my time?
the only differance i could find when swapping them over was the new one didnt have the steering gear i had to swap that over from my old gearcase?
any idea's?
