Swing away tongue

I just realized that this was available and would solve my problem with storing whatever boat I buy inside the garage.
I did a search and found a good thread, but all the pictures were missing so not a lot of help.
I know there are a lot of different kinds of setups, some with integrated brake linkage and such, but what I really want to know is:

Are they safe?

Where the heck do you cut?

What boat I buy depends on if I can get it in the garage or not, so this would really be a big help in making a decision.

safe - Yes.

where to cut - Depends on the trailer.

I actually used one to make my trailer longer by 34".

Yep, definitely safe. Thinking about adding one to my trailer too to get more room in the garage.
