Swapping ignition sytems???

I have a 1975 mercury 85Hp with a dist. I know where I can get a 1984 Mercury 75Hp in-line 4 cyl. with all CDI. The crank numbers are the same. Any Idea if you can swap ignition systems?? thank guys.

Cannot interchange ignitions as differences are: crankcase half,carbs,throttle linkage,upper end cap, control box wiring.
