Hey Guys I have searched not only IBoats but also all over the internet about this subject. I got my Suzuki DT75 out on the water yesterday but have noticed that it doesn't want to stay idling without increasing the fast idle lever. I can get it to sometimes stay idle but it depends.

I have rebuilt the carbs completely etc. When I kicked the boat into reverse yesterday the engine completely cut out immediately. What this is telling me is the backward pressure on the exhaust is causing the engine to stall out. I am assuming this means my idle is not set properly (to slow). I am what I would call a learning amateur so I am not able to tune a engine and its rpm's my "ear" like some of the more experienced mechanics to get it working properly. I am thinking that with the proper tach readings I can adjust the carbs and idle adjustment so that the motor doesn't stall going between gears.

I looking through the service manual and I saw that Yellow is suppose to be the Tach Wire. Coming out of the Suzuki Control box there is a yellow wire but it is capped off and not being used. Is this where I can tie a Tach into is this unused yellow wire coming from the control box?

Hopefully someone has some information on this and any tips about the stalling going into gears is most greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help and time

I am not any help on the tach wire,
but did you follow the procedures for setting up the carbs after reinstalling them
Not that up on Suzuki's but if like Yamaha's there is a link and sync procedure that needs to be followed each and every time the carbs are reinstalled.

Also some times it takes a few trys at cleaning to get all passages completely clear and adjusted to factory specs

Sonic cleaner is needed sometimes
