Hay fellow boaters, I have a 89 dt30c that I have mounted on a 16' alumacraft that I use in the river around home. At the present time she is tiller stir and I want to change it over to a stick stir. the stiring is not the problem the throttle and transmition shifting is. I am on a budjet and all the control boxes that I have looked at are higher than I payed for the hole boat, motor and trailer.
Any one out there have a good idea that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I have no suzuki reps in my area to talk to and I want to get this done before the 50lb cats get here in two months. thanks

Re: suzuki DT30 control from tiller to remote help

I have got a 93 DT9.9c that I would like to convert from a tiller also. All parts for this motor's remote setup are now unavailable and the local marine shop has been less than helpful. Are there compatible parts that would work?

Re: suzuki DT30 control from tiller to remote help

My name is Federico, from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I have a Suzuki DT 30 2007, and I want to install a remote control, but I couldn?t find the part at my local reseler.

I guess the code part is 67130 96310 0EP, 67130963100EP but I'm not shure..

I really preciate some some help with this. I have some friends in Miami, so they can buy the part for me.

Best regards, from Buenos Aires and from Patagonia. Land of beautiful lakes!

Re: suzuki DT30 control from tiller to remote help

I converted my 1987 Yamaha tiller to wheel steering, with throttle and shift controls.
The underside of most tiller handles, is open. I made a 3' long aluminum lever, with 2 set screws to hold it on the shaft.
Attached the end of throttle cable to it, and clamped the cable housing to the motor at the right position.
Made an aluminum bracket to hold the housing of the shift cable, and connected the end to the shift handle.
I used an old Morse shifter control.
Here is a picture, of the throttle lever

I replace that motor with a 1987 Yamaha 25hp, electric start. I made a mount for the cables, and modified a lever for the throttle. I needed to add an electric choke, as I didn't have a 8' arm! I bought a 12 volt solenoid, for $11 on Ebay, and made a bracket, and it works great.
Pictures of it also.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
