suzuki df 70 2003 no ignition or controls.

I just bought an older Suzuki df 70 that had everything disconnected at the engine.. Would it be best to get Suzuki year specific wiring and controller ?
Or can I get a newer Suzuki controller and ignition and " make it worK" ? Or can I use a generic control and ignition ? The boat I am putting it on is a one that I have built from scratch so has no existing ignition wiring etc. I am quite void of experience in this however have some handy friends that can help once I get some direction. Also what gauges should I get for an engine like this ? Sure would appreciate any input.

Best bet is to visit your local Suzuki dealer tell them what you have and what type of controls you want (side mount, binnacle or concealed side mount) and they will fix you up with all the correct controls, harnesses & multifunction tachometer.
