I have had an issue occur a couple of times on my DF100 (38hrs) as follows:

First instance - After being anchored for a while I start the engine then proceed to power up onto the plane. The first time I had fouron board with two at the rear and the engine wouldn't rev past 4500rpm (with throttle in full position) and wouldn't get on the plane. It felt as though there was an anchor tied off at the stern (there wasn't :p). The engine was knocked back to neutral and it then stalled. Restarted, dropped the trim tabs, moved the guys forward and it was fine (i.e. would rev out).

Second instance - had been fishing at anchor with only two on board and proceeded to take off. The boat would get on the plane (much lighter this time) but again would not rev past 4500rpm with throttle in the full position. The maximum speed I could get was 23kts. We stopped and checked the prop for weed (none found) then restarted and took off again. Engine ran fine and would rev out to WOT (6100rpm) and get 33kts.

Both times the revs stuck at roughly the same speed despite the throttle being pinned to the stop. A restart in both cases seems to have cleared the problem. There is no other misfiring or rough running; it just doesn't get full power. There is no water in the water separator and fresh fuel was put in the tank both times (premium ULP). It seems to be electrical (engine management) as opposed to mechanical. No fault codes are being raised.

I have spoken to a friend that has had the same problem with his 2010 DF100 a couple of times.

Re: Suzuki 2009 DF100 won't rev out

Got the same problem with my 2008 DF 140 for the last 2 years. Usually happens once or twice on a day fishing. It's happened to me enough I can tell as soon as I hit the throttle. It will rev to about 3500 rpm with my Blazer Bay 2170 and not even plane off. I stop, turn the motor off, kill all power at the battery switch. Turn switch back on and crank it up and it's good to go. I use to just restart the motor, but had a few times that didn't work. Killing battery power seems to fix it every time. It is kind of aggravating but been living with it. Would take it to the Suzuki repairman, but figured he'd charge me $1000 and not figure it ou.

Does yours have an NMEA network installed? My problem has been traced back to my NMEA network. Still not sure exactly what the issue is, but disconnecting the network from the motor resulted in over a dozen incident free trips. Apparently some dodgy engine interface cables have been known to cause problems. I have a new cable on back order and am waiting for delivery.
