surging motor

I have a 2001 5.7 gsi When i run the motor on high throttle it runs great when i back down to idle the motor will surge three to five times and then smooths out.I have changed idle control valve o2 and throttle position sensor. I also had the intake gasket changed. Has anyone had this problem before.

They didn't have an o2 sensor, so what did you replace?

When was the last full tuneup? Cap, rotor, spark plugs? Compression check.

Changed idle control, map sensor, tpi sensor. It was tuned up in spring of 2012, new wires cap rotor plugs. The throttle body was checked out. The mechanic even tried a different ecm and still had the problem.

Have you done any troubleshooting of the systems other than swapping parts?
What is the full model number or serial number of your engine?

Also used propane to look for vacuum leaks.

Here is some info from the manual on checking your engine for surging.
Start from the beginning and follow each step.
I just put it all in a single file and took out all the MPI sections and other types of problems.
