Re: Surge coupler and weight distribution hitch????

The Reese(Not Reece) hitch is still going to have a problem with the surge unit eevn if it has chains. The tension on the chains prevents the surge unit from working properly.

Not true. With 5 or 6 chain links between the torsion bar ard the trailer there is about 5" of relatively no load swing, a surge coupler would not notice the very slight extra resistance.

Thankyou for correcting my spelling mistake - I have hightlighted yours'.

According to Reese, there are only a few brake surge couplers that can be used with the Reese equilizer bars. One of which is the Attwood because it is not a sliding coupler but more of a hinged coupler. Units such as the Dico/Titan require a modification to allow for a roller bar setup to allow the surge brake unit to operate correctly.

That informnation is all well and good, but I think the electric is the one just based on cost and the limited service I'll need annually...
