sunk running 4 hp

I accidently tipped over my square stern canoe with my 4 hp 4 stroke outoard running. I have drained all gas lines carburator and fuel pump. I also drained crank case changed the oil. It has been sitting for 3 days and it still wont start. it has spark and fresh fuel. Can anybody help me with what i am missing

If it starts with a shot of starting fluid, the carb needs to be gone through. If it went down in salt water, the spark plug is history, even if it shows spark when you pull the starter over. And the possibility exists, depending on the brand of engine, that it jumped time trying to compress water.

no it was fresh water.it will not start with starting fluid. it back fires through the carb when you crank it over

it is a yamaha and i also changed the plug

I'd be checking the compression and then the spark with an inline spark tester.
