I remember getting a new "grownup" rod and reel at about that age, tied in with a special fishing trip with Dad. I like the kite idea, but maybe you are played out there. Slot cars, trains, remote control anything almost, but maybe too close to being electronic.

Legos were big for my grandkids at that age. Models, etc.

He is getting a rocket kit (ordered). We gave him books last year and we will probably toss in a few more goodies. Remote controlled boat? When he is at the lake he is normally already in a boat ;)

Do they still make Tonka toys and is 7 a bit to old for that stuff?

It may be getting a little cold but a nice boat ride experience.Toys break but memories at that age last forever.
