Hello,
It's winter here so I thought I draw some mods for my boat.
I figure I build a mould in 4 mm marine plywood and if it turns out good, I try to learn how to apply glassfiber.

What do you think who has some experience or feel free to comment if you think it looks like crap or not :)

Happy New Year!

You are looking to build a bow like in the pictures for your own boat?
Perhaps I was unclear, it is my boat in the images. first two is how it is now and I am considering building a T top for it and or also to make it a Day cruiser as the sketches

Far cheaper to buy another boat already setup like you want ! Once you complete your project you will never even begin to get what you have into it cost wise and not a penny for all your labor. Nobody wants a scabbed over boat. Please reconsider your ideas.....at least consider going to an aluminum hull boat, far less cost and work and a much better chance of recouping some of your money back !!

I think you are right but I thought it could be fun to do it. The boat actually is aluminum but a mix, hull is aluminium but interior is fiber glass. Maybe I try and make a T top first. The boat has a driving cover but not optimal when you go alittle faster.

I would buy a tower if that's what you're really after. As far as mounting it...it'd have to go behind the windshield...which would make getting in/out of the boat a chore through the back. Putting it on the glass or next to it seems to be asking for a cracked pane of glass.

I'd really rethink this one.

Just my $0.02. I agree, sell what you have to buy what you want.

However if you want a small project

Buy a T-top and custom tower or find one from a similar boat and buy it. It will be the same cost or cheaper than you building it

Most tower builders understand the loading and can reinforce the structure as needed because pounding of the waves can tear the tower and top apart

Have a canvas shop make a snap on bow cover.

A closed bow is cool for about 20 minutes. Then when you get more than 2 people on board you realize that you need storage or seating.

Our current boat is a Cuddy. The small cabin is ok for just the two of us, however add 8 other people and I would rather have a large bow rider.
