Yes, it depends on how pitted the cast iron of the cylinder walls & the block deck sealing surfaces got from salt water exposure.
exactly pitting on walls, crank and rods surfaces , valve seats too. Have seen heads get trashed because the seats get so rusty it cheaper to buy new cores than stick inserts in them

Up here in near Lake Ontario with all its fresh water most of the damage usually is in the electronics that get all shorted out and damaged. Invisible ,but lethal.

Down here in TN the electrics get haywire also, very few of the electrical stuff on my old 01 GMC work except the ignition and some of the lighting. :)
