I capsized my 18ft boat w/cuddy and 90hp 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine in the ocean. It was submerged for four hours and I couldn't work on it until the next day. I flushed it out the best that I could I took the plugs out and turned it over by hand then put some marvel miracle oil in the plug holes. I sprayed the whole engine with liquid wrench. I was unable to turn it over the starter is just clicking I ran out of time that was yesterday. What are the chances of recovering the engine at this point or am I wasting my time?
Thanks.

:welcome: to iboats

Sorry about your luck hope everyone is OK, but I think the motor can be salvaged. Your clicking is because of a bad connection or the salt is causing some issues. fresh water flush everything outside the engine as well, including all the electrical stuff then let it dry. If you have a fan to put on it it could help. Your doing the right thing with oil in the cylinders.

BTW this should be posted in the outboard section. The moderator will probably move shortly

You need to completely strip and clean the powerhead. Then replace anything electrical, wiring, solenoids, starter motor (but the coils and switchboxes should be ok)...

Chris...........
