Re: Stupid Human's Trick

WOW is about all I can say. It scares me to death to just have the people on my boat jump off the stern when we are sitting still. I was swimming and kicked my prop and it took 15 stitches. That was enough for me. Am not sure "stupid" is a strong enough word.....

If you watch the discharge out the back, you can tell this is a jet drive. Still a pretty stupid thing to do but at least no prop too get caught in.

This is illegal here in pennsylvania, and many other places as well I'm sure.
It doesn't matter if it's jetdrive or not, the other danger is Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

I would have to agree its a jet drive. I would not do this or let my boat be used to do it but what the h%ll the world is over populated.

What this makes me think of, is what a complete waste of time it is, to try to explain to some people, why something is really, really, really dumb.

Re: Stupid Human's Trick

Anybody read the comments left for the video?

The person who posted the video, says that "INBOARD- PROPELLER IS BELOW THE BOAT, MAKES YOU HAVE TO REALLY TRY TO GET CHOPPED UP"

Then they say "AWESOME"- when someone comments about carbon monoxide and deaths.

If these fools did get "chopped up", some other dink would be next in line to take their spot. Never ending cycle of them. Stay classy!

:( Because of idiots like that. We now have to afix a uglier than ugly decal to the back of our boats in california warning of carbon monoxide poisining. In the words of bill engval "here's your sign!"

stupid is mother natures way of "thinning the herd"

Teak surfing... Isnt what that's called? Idiots!

Yeah it's illegal in CA too.

http://www.dbw.ca.gov/PressRoom/2004/041231TeakSurf.aspx

you know what I can't figure out about the CO stickers which you read about here:

http://www.dbw.ca.gov/BoaterInfo/CODanger.aspx#whatIsCO

....is that I don't have one on my boat, and it wasn't mentioned when I got boarded, and I don't recall ever seeing one. Yet there's that state bill that passed that supposedly requires it.

Re: Stupid Human's Trick

lots of fail in this thread, and i'm not talking about the video...

First, not a jet. No where close to enough prop wash. A jet would have completely stripped the clothes off the girl when she was dead center! (no really, i'm not kidding, long story that i don't need to tell on here!) its an inboard, the video creator confirmed that on the thread on youtube.

second, carbon monoxide. Several wake inboards are now being made specially with an under-water exhaust outlet for just this reason. People do wakesurfing right behind the boat and exhaust obviously is a concern. There is also an aftermarket add on kit for exactly this purpose.
http://www.onlyinboards.com/Ski-boat-accessories/fresh-air-exhaust.html

So anyway, just because it isn't something you would do doesn't automatically make it stupid or dangerous if done correctly.

There is no correct way to position your body within three feet of a propeller at work.

Re: Stupid Human's Trick

I'll offer a very good reason not to do this. If the driver doesn't see an object in the water and runs over it, guess where its going to come out and guess who will never have time to react to it.

Ever consider what a two pound object, slammed into your head at about 25 mph can do?
