‘76 90hp Chrysler outboard. Fuel pump check valves are stuck in their seat. Anyone have a good way to remove them without damaging the pump itself? These things are pretty well stuck in there, but there are not any outward signs of corrosion or gunk.

The best bet is upgrade to a newer pump.
The older pump/valves were pressed in.
They hardly ever went bad.
One time in 40 years did I see a valve go bad.
It fell apart but still worked.

I would, but there isnt really a newer pump to upgrade to. No worries, I found a good used one to swap in. Thank you

These pumps all work the same way.-----PRESSURE pulses from the crankcase.-----There are many Johnson / Evinrude pump that can be fitted to work.

Oh yeah I realize all that, what I meant was there isnt one aftermarket to fit OEM style. I end up restoring most of the motors I have, and like things to be pretty close to original

These pumps are good and reliable.------No demand for them.-----So no aftermarket.-----I will keep quiet from now on for you.

No plz all input is welcome. Just explaining my intention a little better. I was not aware of the reliability of the old check valves. This is my first Chrysler. Mostly only dealt with old Mercs with check valves in the past, and those all came out relatively easy. When restoring, I go down to the last bolt, inspect, and replace if needed. Figured Id pop these out to check the undersides is all. If its not feasable, as it seems not to be and confirmed by you, then I can just move on to the next thing. Thank you
