Welcome to iBoats!

It's all gotta come out. All the bad wood and everything ground down to good fresh glass. Open a Free Photobucket account and post up some pics so we can see what you're working on!!! We LOVE pics!!!

Re: stringer question

Depending on how much room you have to work, most people use a reciprocating saw with long, thin blades. The thin blades make it easy to bend them into place to follow the hull profile as you're cutting along the base of the stringer. Once you get the hang of it, it ain't so bad.

Stringers are a Major Structural Component of the hull. To do them correctly they need to be totally removed, and replaced. This link has some illustrations and info for you..."Fabricating Decks, Stringers, and Transoms"

thanks for the link woodonglass . im using a iscolating tool to get a better cut instead of a saw saw and i got a roll of 1708 and my epoxy and about half way with tear down at the point of pulling off the cap so i can get to the front and the rest of the back

Re: stringer question

wow I have to agree with woodonglass its all got to go. from the picture ill bet when you get it tore out you will find that is all water logged. I just tore out all the stringers out of a 72 tri-hull. its not that bad. the hull is thicker than you think. good luck.

Re: stringer question

Ok, gotcha. What did you use to cut out the stringer?
