Stringer lamination question

I made one of my stringers today, and before I go on to make the second, I wanted to get a little feedback on its construction. What I did was take two sheets of ACX plywood and rip them into three 1 foot by 8 foot stips. Then I took some Titebond III waterproof (according to the label) wood glue and laminated two of them together to create a 13.5 foot beam. Then I cut two of the other pieces to make up the 5.5 feet on each side to make one solid 13.5 foot laminated beam. The ply is 15/32 so I have a little over 3/4 of an inch. The overlap in the middle is a little over 2.5 feet. I screwed all these together with 3/4 inch wood screws about every 6 to 8 inches with three across the beam. I attached a pic, the only place I have that is fairly flat is the floor in the living room. I'll leave it here to dry tonight then move it to the guest bedroom where it will live until I am ready the cut it up and contour it to the hull. I am not done grinding, but I had had to take a grinding break and do something else. Plus it should give me some more inspiration to get that grinding done so I can order the glass and resin.

So what do you guys think? Is this good enough? The original stringers were 3/4 solid boards probably fir.

Ayuh,... Looks Good to Me...

I usually remove the screws after it dries,+ fill the holes when sealing the wood...

Re: Stringer lamination question

Thanks, I am going to give it a full 24 hrs to fully cure then I am going to remove the screws. I will use them on the other one when I do it tonight. I started a thread on this boat a few months ago, I'll update the thread with the latest pics and news this evening. Today more grinding......

I was thinking of making some bulkheads to support the floor and firm up the hull. This boat had two stringers then foam to support the floor. I think the grid system will provide better support, then I can use the pink foam instead of poured foam for flotation.

Re: Stringer lamination question

I have to do the same thing on my Silverline rebuild, my center stringer is 16' and that does not include the bilge. Mine is a 1x6 but to get my length I'm thinking of laminating 1/2 ply instead of 3/8 for more strength. Water off the coast of Wa. can get lumpy!
