stringer inpeller replacement

As some of you know, some As!@#$% stole my manual. I am trying to replace the impeller in the upper, and I cant get the water pump drive shaft out. It looks in the parts pic I have that it meshes into the upper gear drive shaft without anything holding it in place. How do I get this shaft out!?!?!? <br /><br />Thanks-Jeff<br /><br />1981 2.5l<br />1985 400 stringer

c'mon, no one knows how an impeller drive shaft comes out? If I remember correctly, it pulls right out, but this one won't. Please help! Thanks

you have mail Jeff.. it should pull out, but I have seen a couple of those splines that have slipped and welded themselves back together.. I have one old w/p shaft from a 1964-67 drive that is twisted like one of those desert cinnamon twist things at Taco Bell.

....in other words, the shaft shuold drop as if told, "drop the chaluppa".........<br /><br />This ain't budging. Sitting in penetrating oil for now......Sent you a reply, thanks. Anyone else?
