the stingers on my 1986 galaxy bow rider was only 1" wide is this normal for this year boats....not sure i have ever seen that thin of a stringer on any boat that is 20' long....suggestions please.......the reason the glass was bubbled toward the bottom of the stringers (from the other post) was it did not set on the stringer it was like a pocket of air....this is also apparent in the hull also not sure if its worth cutting down on the hull suggestions on this also appreciated.....i still havent figured out what the black rubber is on the hull but i will take all of it up.. underneath the fiberglass looks real stringy like its not completly set with the resin.....should i put a new coat of csm on the hull after i get the strings in.....should i use 1" for the stinger like before heck it was in there for this many years and only the bottom of most of the stringer was rotten but toward the stern almost all was rotten..... thanks in advance if someone can help.... Re: Stringer help

My 24 foot boat had only 1/2" stringers, but they were 16" high.

I took a look at your photobucket album. Aren't boats fun?

So, your boat has a more shallow V hull and a 1" stringer would be typical for that setup.

that boat may have been made with chopper guns, thus the stringy fiberglass, etc. Fully glass in your stringers with 1708 cloth for hull bonding and CSM to cover them.

Check the link in my signature below. It has drawings and details to help you with your Deck, Stringers and Transom. I'd use 3/4" Ext. Grade Plywood for your stringers.

Re: Stringer help

i have posted pictures of where the stringers was and the top of where they were is level with the fiberglass on the hull ....should i sand them down to the orginal glass or bed them in the hole that is already there? you can see the white fiberglass in the picture is this something that needs to be sanded or just put glass over the whole hull after i ger the stringers and transom in with the motor mountattached to them... thanks woodonglass i have read a lot on yours ondrov, oops and others i have learned a lot from all of yall and others on here but since i am first timers on doing somthing like this i want to be right not sinking when i go out thanks again
