Stranded Boater ???

While I was tubing with the kids today, I came upon a boater that broke down. They had drifted over near shore and were paddling (in vein) to get out to deeper water. I went over to lend assistance and offered a tow to a local marina. They only wanted a tow into deeper water? Again, I said I would give a tow to a local marina or their home dock if close by. They declined with no explanation and said thanks. I'm just a little confused as to why they wanted to remain stranded? Any ideas.

Lets just hope they were working on something minor and merely needed a few more minutes to complete the wiring/mechanical/fuel switcheroo/ tasks. There is no need to think of any other possibilities. Please.

They must not have been too concerned. After about another hour of tubing, we left the area. They were still anchored in the channel, right where we towed them. One guy was floating in a tube tethered to the boat. We waved, they waved and we went on our way. Don't know what they were waiting for??? I had my VHF on CH 16 all day and they never called for any assistance. I guess they had a plan. I hope. For all I know, they're still there...

Maybe they were watching something that they could only see from the deeper water. Did they look Mid-Eastern? [You're not paranoid if they really are out to get you].

Perhaps they were of the cheapskate sort and rationing their gas supply.

I think I figured it out. They were in a totally operative boat, but feigning trouble to attract a boat load of beautiful women to save them. You enabled them to pull the ruse off for another go round. Lets hope I'm right, cause otherwise its just wrong. Really wrong.

What is this world coming to when guys fake a breakdown to attract women? There is something wrong with that picture.

They definitly had outdrive problems. That thing was click'n and clank'n like there was no tomorrow.

Nope, no turbans on their heads.

Maybe you guys are right... They must have been waiting for some babes to rescue them.

Anyway, I went by the area where I left them this past Friday and they were gone. I guess the babes came along and saved the day!

Well Ratfish... it sure beats the alternatives when you get right down to it.
