mod#V4ML-11C, ser#J2547231. thanks for earlier advice on this motor, but nothing has worked yet. in recap, motor starts fine, idles and accelerates good up to about half throttle. engine then starves for fuel and wont take wot. new points and condenser, .020, new plugs, new fuel pump diaghram with large buttons, 2 new plastic gas tanks, new fuel delivery hose and fittings, new primer bulb-twice, cleaned carbs down to reeds, set floats and checked needle valves, new water pump impeller, compression equal on all four cylinders at 55lbs. Also new fuel screen in fuel bowl. when throttle is wot motor will take off and go good if someone is in back squeezing primer bulb, or i am holding electric choke switch on dash closed. long time johnson mechanic i talked to suggested possible air leak in block, but said if it was leaking motor usually wouldnt idle and mine idles great. other than that he couldnt come up with any new ideas either. replacing all fuel hoses today just to be sure none are coming apart inside, but am out of ideas. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx again! ps. i bought this motor used and have no idea of its history

Re: still starving for fuel 65mod 90hp

I just went through this with iboats a couple of days ago, and after 37post I figured it out, thanks to the fellas here. Ok,listen close because I thought I had checked everything also...start at the tank and work VERY maticulasly looking at everything closely.all the way to the carbs. I went throught everything three times replaced stuff two sometimes 3 times. after about 4 days I came across a fuel "T" that splits the fuel to both carbs. It was cracked and was sucking air. not letting me throttle up above half throttle. Your problem is an air leak more than likely...its in there, you just have to play detective and find it. We will all be glad to help you if needed.

Good Luck,

Suzuki40
