OK, so that wasn't bad. 2.5 hours, then another 3 to strip some of the boat. I didn't have a compression tester, and the gas was obviously bad, so I just poured a little gas down the carb. It popped, so at least the ignition is working. Didn't see a reason to screw with it much.
This made me so sad, this was such a nice boat back in the day, much nicer/more substantial than my current. Looks like it was well maintained--until it wasn't.
Took off the riser, to my untrained eye didn't look too bad. What do you think? Looks like a freshwater boat BTW.
The buried treasure in the boat ended up being 6 very nice life jackets, fire extinguisher, flare gun/flares, a gutter cleaning power wand (?), compass, a couple of serviceable looking speakers, depth finder, battery charger. Not too bad.
I couldn't figure out how to get the windshield off. I have zero need for it, but seems a shame to junk it. Also couldn't remove the shifter control box, which is weird since I removed and cleaned it in the past on my boat.
I found a garage that will pull the engine for $50, I'll take that.
I see what you guys are talking about with the transom shield. For some reason I thought the rear went directly into the stringers as well. That would make locating the engine super tough I guess. Thanks for the help. I'm going to start a new thread specifically related to the swap at this point.
