Another thread talks about Top Gear.
Are you people familiar with another Englishman called Stephen Fry.
He is not unlike James May in a way.
He is an excellent presenter.
This link probably won't be of great interest.

Anyway 2 nights back we had a 'repeat' of his TV series travelling thru America, in a very unusual manner, and he meets and talks with the sort of normal people interviewers never consider. I watched it last time and its so good I'm watching again.
I watched carefully as I know some of you live in the areas he visited.
This is where he went for us.
This program we went to Maine and on a lobster boat, great people.
Next to N. Hampshire and watched the Politicians; how fascinating is that?
Then Bretton Woods; so much history there. I had never seen it in so much detail and him sitting on the balcony having a cup of tea talking about it,; really good.
Mt Washington; what a train. Fascinating. Who has been on that?
Cohen Green ice cream. Wow!
Then NY State. That was interesting, out in the country with locals hunting white tail.
Topbridge (I think) lakes with absolutely amazing homes or cabins. It was like another world - completely.
Then of course, Boston, the cradle of the revolution. Had the Tea Party explained in detail.
Tea and a fascinating interview at Harvard with a Prof that was Black and spoke more like a POM.
Salem with the witches and the big party. (Halloween??. Can't recall)
Sailing a 12m ex Americas cup boat.
The sub base. Went on board one and got shown all around. Saw a Tomahawk. I have never seen that much detail on life inside one before.
Rhode Island. Wow, the holiday cottages of the rich, and the woman he had tea with, well, she was just like an upper class POM, and one of the 400. If you are 401, then you should be in Alabama she said!! Some money there.
The big Apple. He matched up with a taxi cab company owner and went around town. Even to the Sopranos bar/club. Very different.
Crossed the Delaware where Washington did it in winter. That is bigger than I ever thought. I have a print of a painting of him doing it around somewhere (*I think).
Washington. The whole place seems a national symbol. Architecture, Theatre, Public Gardens. Quite fascinating.
Had a walk around the Willard Hotel, then a long tea with the founder of Wikipedia. That is quite a hotel.
Then off to the place of Lincolns speech. I didn't know it was only 270 words, nor the conditions of the day. The bloke that did the re-enactment was very good.
So guys, I learnt a lot about your country, enjoyed it, and looking forward to next week (I recall how he found the Dixie Line.)
You definitely need many more POM's like this doing positive, good, healthy shows for your country.
Cheers
Phillip
